Palestinian Prisoners: Shared Struggle, Shared Suffering and Shared Aspirations

No matter how much we write about Palestinian prisoners, it is not enough in comparison to these prisoner’s sacrifices and daily suffering. They lost their freedom in the fight for the freedom of Palestine and for our freedom. Their “road of suffering” begins with the minute of their arrest. They are often brutally beaten by the IOF upon arrest, to be then handed over to the Israeli intelligence “Shabak”, who don't hesitate to use all forms of physical and mental torture to force Palestinians into admitting things they didn't do. Those prisoners who survive the Shabak interrogation are then handed over to the Israeli prison authority, which runs some Nazi-like prison facilities, death cells waiting to engulf Palestinians. Here, Palestinian prisoners are subjected to an inhumane treatment much similar to methods used by the Nazis in Concentration camps, such as conducting medical experiments on powerless prisoners, or neglecting their injuries and ailments leaving them to die an agonizing and slow death, or defining Palestinian prisoners according to their given numbers and not as human beings with names. Despite all, these Palestinian prisoners fight as one against the injustices inflicted upon them, against the atrocities of their executioners. Their fight is a daily fight; for they have to fight for the food they eat and the water the drink and the air they breathe. They fight for their right to see their families, to get medical treatment, to get decent food fit for human consumption, to sleep at night, to walk and see the sun during the day, to read books and newspapers, to watch television and hear a radio and get legal support. It is a daily fight to survive a prison institution that is run by a terror state that wouldn't hesitate in shooting at unarmed prisoners who go on hunger strikes in protest of the treatment they receive; A prison institution that wouldn't hesitate in sending a terminally ill Palestinian prisoner back to his cell with a pill of Acamol, a useless pain killer, and ignore his screams of pain all night long; A prison institution that wouldn't hesitate to lock up blind and handicapped Palestinian prisoners in isolation cells which are not fit to be used as a pig’s pens; A prison institution that feeds and thrives on the lives of Palestinian children, women, men and elderly.

Every nation has the right to fight for its freedom, for its legitimate rights and for the future of its children. These freedom fighters locked up behind Israeli prison bars also depend on us to fight for them, to carry their fight to the outside world, to remind the world of their suffering and their sacrifices. It is our word they depend upon, our word to inform those at home and those far away, to mobilize people on their behalf, to uncover the crimes being committed against them behind locked doors, and to keep their issue on the top of our national priorities. During the last couple of weeks, several reports and articles were published on the issue of Palestinian prisoners. There were a number of campaigns and a few petitions distributed widely in support of certain cases. While some of these petitions and reports found great resonance on social sites such as facebook, twitter, and some yahoo and google groups, the stories of other prisoners and their suffering were limited to a few websites. And unfortunately, while some arrests make the headlines, tens of other arrests remain sidelines, numbers added to the list of thousands locked up inside Israeli jails. Regardless of the excuses given, ALL Palestinian prisoners deserve our interest and our work and campaigning for their freedom, and they don't deserve to be reduced to a single line added to certain petitions whenever we find it appropriate or necessary.

Last week, the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club started a campaign calling for the release of Akram Mansour, 49 years old, from Israeli imprisonment because of his deteriorating health situation. Mansour has been locked up in Israeli jails since more than 30 years now and suffers from several diseases. His complaints were often ignored by the Israeli prison authorities, until one day he collapsed during morning exercise. Despite loss of hearing, the Israeli prison authorities told him there was nothing wrong with him and refused him further medical examination. After several demands that he be thoroughly examined and treated, Mansour was given a CT scan at the so-called Ramleh prison “hospital”, which showed the existence of a mass growing inside Mansour’s head, causing the loss of hearing and other ailments. Mansoor lost both his parents and one of his sisters while in prison, unable to say goodbye to them, and might die in prison without having the chance to see his remaining siblings. The Palestinian Prisoner’s Club
“appealed to all institutions and the authorities concerned with prisoners’ affairs to activate his case for his release and to provide appropriate treatment as well as attention to the issues of sick prisoners, and to raise awareness at all levels and international forums.” (www.ppsmo.org)

Palestinian reports of experiments being conducted on Palestinian prisoners by the Israeli prison authority have always been denied by Israel, claiming as usual that the Palestinians are spreading lies and it being another Palestinian propaganda. Actually, all it needs is a study of the medical status of Palestinian prisoners inside Israeli jails to realize that this is no lie and no propaganda: the number of Palestinian prisoners in need of medical care is on the rise. Those who urgently need medical help have often to wait long before receiving the appropriate treatment, i.e. if they are lucky enough to get any treatment at all, and are often left to die a slow and painful death or are treated with mere painkiller, no matter how severe the case is, while those who suffer from minor ailments end up with severe problems after they get “treated” at the so-called prison clinics. Examples exist of prisoners who needed urgent surgery but didn't receive it, and of others who had to wait years before they were finally operated, with the condition of the patients not getting better after the operation, and others who lost their eye-sight, movement in their limbs and caught serious diseases after being “treated”. There are cases of prisoners suffering from diabetes where the deliberate delay in providing the needed medical help had led to the amputation of their limbs. Several registered cases of mass food poisoning inside the prisons strengthen what many prisoners and prisoner organizations say about Palestinian prisoners being used against their will and knowledge as test persons in medical experiments conducted by the Israeli prison authorities. Also, Palestinian prisoners who need urgent treatment get interrogated in the so-called prison clinics and are blackmailed into giving information or admitting to things they didn't commit. Israeli soldiers comprise the medical staff running these so-called clinics, whereby an Israeli soldier can become a nurse after only 6 months of training. Palestinian prisoners are transferred in vans to the so-called Ramlah prison “hospital” instead of in ambulances and they are hand and leg cuffed, including during the operations which are often conducted without anesthetic.

According to several Palestinian prisoner organizations there are 1500 Palestinian prisoners with medical problems. Many of them suffer from heart diseases, high blood pressure, kidney diseases, diabetes, paralysis, vision loss, dental problems and other chronic diseases. Some suffer from past injuries inflicted upon them by the IOF during their arrest, or by the Israeli prison authority and the Israeli intelligence (Shabak) during interrogation and after it. Today, there are 16 Palestinian prisoners who suffer from cancer, which, according to several reports, is on the rise among Palestinian prisoners inside Israeli prisons. At least 150 Palestinian prisoners suffer from heart diseases and blood pressure problems, tens have become handicapped after being shot at by the IOF just before their arrest, and at least 12 suffer from Hemiplegia. In addition to physical suffering, more than 40 Palestinian prisoners suffer from mental and psychological ailments due to the interrogation methods used by the Israeli Shabak and the Israeli prison authorities, which include torture.

Raid Darabieh, 36 years old, from Jabalya RC, was diagnosed with kidney stones and was operated by the Israeli prison authority 4 times in the back and spine after the discovery of a tumor in the spinal cord. All operations failed, leaving Darabieh with open back-wounds and the loss of feeling in his feet, making him a cripple.
Anas Shihadeh had an Appendectomy without any anesthetic being used. During the operation his heart stopped beating 3 times.
Nur Alasa, 23, suffered from kidney failure and cirrhosis of the liver after being given pills by the Israeli prison authority as treatment for his cold.
Jum’a Muhammad Musa, 66 years old and a father of 8, died on 24.12.2008 in Israeli jails after spending 10 years in the so-called Ramlah prison “hospital”. Musa was given all sorts of medicines causing him only more pain and suffering, and an injection given to him caused paralysis in his left arm and leg.
Mohammad Abu Wahdan was tied to the bed in the “hospital” by his hands and legs and was left to die a slow and painful death.

Avigdor Lieberman, current Israeli foreign minister, stated on 07.07.2003 in front of the Israeli Knesset in a discussion on Palestinian political prisoners that “It would be better to drown these prisoners in the Dead Sea if possible, sine that's the lowest point in the world.”[1] , adding that as transport minister, he would be willing to provide the buses to take the prisoners there.
Tzahi Hanegbi, former Israeli ministry for internal security, said in 2004 after Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails declared a hunger strike against the inhumane prison conditions: “They can strike for a day, a month, until death. We will ward off this strike and it will be as if it never happened. He has ordered large, open grills to be set up to barbecue meat and for bread to be baked just outside the prison doors, to torture prisoners with the smells. Prison guards are encouraged to eat all this in front of the fasting prisoners.”[2] He later said: “for all I care, they can starve to death!”[3]
Commenting on the same issue, Dany Naveh, former Israeli health minister, gave orders preventing Palestinian prisoners from receiving treatment in health facilities: “let them be treated where they lie … we don't want these murderers in hospitals.”[4]

According to reports there are at least 28 Palestinian prisoners who are dying in Israeli prisons.

197 Palestinian prisoners have been killed by the IOF since 1967; 70 as a result of torture, 71 killed in cold blood after being arrested, 49 as a result of medical negligence and 7 being shot dead inside prisons by the Israeli prison authorities.[5]

Bassam Al-Somoody from Al-Yamon was killed on 16.8.1988 in Al-Naqab detention camp.
Nidal Deeb from Ramallah was killed on 8.2.1989 in Majido prison.
Abdallah Abu Mahruqa from Deir Al-Balaha was killed on 12.9.1989 in Ansar 2.
Sabry Mansoor from Al-Jeep was killed on 7.7.1990 in Ofer.
Musa Abdul Rahman from Nuba was killed on 18.1.1992.
Mohammed Al-Ashqar from Sida was killed on 22.10.2007 in Al-Naqab detention camp.

A week earlier, on 25.09.2009, it was reported that Palestinian prisoner Sameh Al-Shobaky from Qalqylia had entered his 7th year in isolation in Israeli prisons. Al-Shobaky was transferred to isolation immediately after his arrest and the subsequent interrogation, and he stays in isolation till this very day. Through his lawyer, Al-Shobaky demanded more attention from the media to the situation of Palestinian prisoners, especially those held in isolation, and to inform the world of the daily human rights violations these prisoners are exposed to on a daily basis on the hands of the Israeli prison authority. He “appealed to all the human rights organizations and human rights groups to act on the subject of the prisoners in isolation and raising it to all levels, to get the prisoners out of isolation from the world.” (www.ppsmo.org). Prisoners who are placed in isolation are either locked up in solitary confinement where they neither see nor hear any other human being, or share the same tiny cell with one other prisoner. The Palestinian Prisoners’ Club confirms the existence of
“a phony court where the prisoner is taken every six months and in the event of their being two prisoners they are taken to it once a year. This court obeys the Israeli intelligence court orders “Al-Shabak” and the prisons administration “Al-Shabas”, and often requires the extension of the period that the prisoner is in isolation without giving reasons for it, and it also lacks the bare images and elements of a fair trial.” (www.ppsmo.org)

According to the latest reports, there are at least 50 Palestinian prisoners in isolation, including the two female prisoners Wafa’ Albis and Latifah Abu Thra’ who has been in isolation for more than three years. Prisoners who are placed in isolation remain so for many years and have no access to other prisoners or to news from other prisons. Among those, there are more than 14 prisoners who have spent over five years in isolation such as:
Abdul Nasser Al-halisy and Tayseer Samody: have each spent over 13 years in isolation.
Sameh Al-Shobaky and Mo’taz Hijazy: have each spent 7 years in isolation.
Jamal Abu Al-Hijan, Ahmed Al-Magriby, and Hassan Salameh: have each spent 5 years in solitary confinement.

Other prisoners in isolation include Abbas Al-Sayed, Saeyd Al-Tubasy, Anas Jaradat, Abu Ali Maqadmeh, Thaer Hammad, Ahmed Awaywy and Islam Hadmy.

In isolation, many Palestinian prisoners are subjected to all forms of physical, psychological and emotional suffering. The isolation cells have an area of only 1.8m x 2.7m, including the bathroom, with no room for movement and very bad ventilation. These prisoners are punished further by denying them family visits. Family members, who often make the long and hard trip to the Israeli prisons, are often turned back without being allowed to see their loved ones. Isolated prisoners who have family members also locked up inside Israeli jails are also not allowed to see them. For example, Jamal Abu Heyja “is not allowed to see his wife Asma'a Abu Al Hayja, a former prisoner whose life is withering with cancer. Also, he is not permitted to see his small son and two daughters or to meet any of his three sons who are imprisoned in the occupation jails.”[6] Other punishments include sending the prisoners to the “snooker”, which a very small room (180cm x 150cm). The only facilities in the room are two containers for drinking and washing after urinating. Prisoners locked up here are allowed only once a day to go to the toilet. Here, prisoners are completely isolated, not only from other prisoner, but from any connection to the outside world such as newspapers, radios or even watches to know the time. Mohammed Barash, who is blind and “suffers from the amputation of his left leg and other diseases in his body ... was taken to the snooker and tied by his hands and foot to the bed, and during the night he suffered from suffocation and could not get up because of the restrictions, he had no choice but to scream to get the attention of the nurse.”[7]

As a result of the conditions prevailing in isolation cells, a number of isolated prisoners suffer from diseases and do not receive the needed medical treatment. A report of the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club mentions:[8]
Jihad Yaghmoor: ”suffers from severe pneumonia, and has recently been suffering from cases of suffocation at night then he awakens not finding anyone near him, so he knocks on the door shouting to force the nurse to attend.”
Abdul Nasser Al-Halisy: suffers from a difficult mental disorder. He is in isolation since over 13, of them 8 in solitary confinement.
‘Owaydeh Kallab: suffers from mental and physical illnesses, and general weakness, to the extent that “he is unable to prepare himself a cup of tea, previously the Palestinian prisoners prepared food and sent it to him, till the administration prevented the transport between rooms, despite requests by prisoners and his difficult health situation.”
Hassan Salameh: suffers from an injury in the stomach inflicted upon him on his arrest.
Mohammed Jaber Abdoh: suffers from urinary tract problems.
Mo’taz Hijazy: suffers from the brutal assault on him, because of which he was transferred to the intensive care unit. He has been in solitary confinement for the past 8 years.
Hani Jabir and Ahmad Shukry: were brutally beaten.

Among the over 11,650 Palestinian prisoners locked up inside Israeli jails, there are 325 “veteran prisoners”. The “Veteran Prisoners” is an expression used by prisoner movements and organizations to refer to Palestinian prisoners who have been locked up in Israelis jails since before the signing of the so-called peace agreement between Israel and the PLO in 1993. There are 108 Palestinian prisoners who have spent more than 20 years inside Israeli jails. These prisoners are called the “deans” of Palestinian prisoners. According to Abdel Nasser Farawna, a Prisoner Affairs expert, 20 of those belonging to “deans of prisoners” list are from Jerusalem, 16 are from the Palestinian Territories occupied in 1948 and 72 are from the Occupied West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

Among the Palestinian “deans of prisoners” there are 13 prisoners who are in Israeli prisons since more than 25 years. These prisoners are:
Na’il Saleh Al Bargouhti, 52 years old, Ramallah, in prison since 04.04.1978 (31 years, 6 months) and is thus the longest-standing political prisoner in the world.
Fakhri (Asfour) Abdallah Al Bargouthi, 55 years old, Ramallah, in prison since 23.06.1978 (31 years, 4 months)
Akram Abdel Aziz Mansour, 47 years old, Qalqilya, in prison since 02.08.1979 (30 years, 2 months)
Fouad Qasem Al-Razem, 51 years old, Jerusalem, in prison since 30.01.1981 (28 years, 8 months)
Ibrahim Fadel Jaber, 55 years old, Hebron, in prison since 08.01.1982 (27 years, 9 months)
Hasan Ali Salma, 51 years old, Ramallah, in prison since 08.08.1982 (27 years, 2 months)
Othman Ali Misleh, 57 years old, Nablus, in prison since 15.10.1982 (27 years)
Sami Khaled Younis, 77 years old, from ‘Ara, in prison since 05.01.1983 (26 years, 9 months)
Karim Yousif Younis, 51 years old, from ‘Ara, in prison since 06.01.1983 (26 years, 9 months)
Maher Abdel Latif Younis, 52 years old, from ‘Ara, in prison since 20.01.1983 (26 years, 9 months)
Salim Ali Al Kayal, 56 years old, from Gaza, in prison since 30.05.1983 (26 years, 4 months)
Hafith Qundus, 46 years old, from Yafa, in prison since 15.05.1984 (25 years, 5 months)
Issa Abed Rabbo, 46 years old, from Dheisheh RC, in prison since 20.10.1984 (~ 25 years)

I am not a full-time writer and can only write in my free time, and sometimes it takes me weeks to finish a paper. While writing this one, almost every single day there were news and reports of new arrests, of more suffering inside Israeli jails, of more horrors and new crimes being committed against Palestinian prisoners by the Israeli prison authority. No matter how many times we raise the issue of Palestinian prisoners, we will not do them justice. Those who are locked up behind bars are denied the sight of the green meadows of Palestine and the smell of the Taboon bread, solely for their love of Palestine, and for their fight for freedom, which is a legitimate right. They are denied the sight of their families, the hug of their mothers, the talk with their fathers. And they are denied the chance to say goodbye to those family members who die while waiting and hoping. And as long as there is still one single Palestinian in Israeli jails, it is our duty to talk about them, to write about them and demand their release, every single one of them! It is our duty to mobilize local and international support and efforts for their protection and release. It is our duty to expose the crimes committed against them and the daily violation of their human rights starting with their right to be free. Their struggle is our struggle, their captivity is our captivity and their freedom is our freedom. We are their voice and they depend on us to keep their issue alive and not forgotten.

According to latest statistics there are:
Some 11,650 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails
326 Palestinian children inside Israeli jails
32 Palestinian women inside Israeli jails
50 Palestinian prisoners in isolation cells
1500 Palestinian prisoners in need of medical care
16 Palestinian prisoners suffer from cancer
150 Palestinian prisoners suffer from heart diseases and blood pressure problems
12 suffer from Hemiplegia
40 Palestinian prisoners suffer from mental and psychological ailments due to the interrogation methods used by the Israeli Shabak and the Israeli prison authorities, which include torture
197 Palestinian prisoners have been killed by the IOF since 1967: 70 as a result of torture, 71 killed in cold blood after being arrested, 49 as a result of medical negligence and 7 being shot dead inside prisons by the Israeli prison authorities
325 Palestinian “veteran prisoners” have been locked up in Israelis jails since before 1993
108 Palestinian “deans of prisoners” have spent 20+ years inside Israeli jails
13 Palestinian prisoners are in Israeli prisons since more than 25 years
Some 500 Palestinian administrative detainees

Selling Out Palestine, Selling Out Palestinian Blood and Rights

Anger, Rage, Fury …. few words to describe our feelings.
Maybe shock as well, for although we thought Abbas and his Ramallah gang couldn’t possibly sink lower, we were proven wrong, yet again. Yes, they could; they could sink lower and lower.

But disappointment isn’t a feeling any of us should have, for we all saw it coming. In Arabic we have a saying: If it looks like shit and smells like shit, then it must be shit. And we have been seeing and smelling the shit long enough to stand up and say: that’s really shit!

The truth is, I don't know where to begin; and with which Abbas & Co crime to start; with them selling Palestine? Or with them selling Jerusalem? Or with them selling the blood of Palestinians martyrs? The Ramallah-PNA, who had been recently busy breaking Guinness records, should be proud of itself, for it had broken yet another record after the Knafaeh one. I don't think human history registered a more outrageous and blatant betrayal to one’s land and people as the betrayal being carried out by Abbas & Co.

Abbas, the architect of the infamous Oslo agreements, who in all audacity preaches us on Jerusalem and never giving up on Jerusalem as the capital of the future “Palestinian state”, is the same Abbas who on 31.10.1995 drew up a plan officially known as the “Framework for the Conclusion of a Final Status Agreement between Israel and the PLO”. This plan, aka the Abu Mazen-Beilin plan, proposes Israel's annexation of 4-5% of the West Bank, for Jerusalem to be the capital of Israel, while nearby Abu-Dees would become the capital of the Palestinian "state", and to form an International Commission for the final settlement of all aspects of the refugee issue. So, actually, it shouldn't surprise anyone that the Judaization of Jerusalem has reached unprecedented levels since Abbas came to power in 2005. Abbas insists on “negotiations” as a means to liberate Jerusalem, and his “negotiating partner” Israel continues the ethnic cleansing of Jerusalem: more demolition of Palestinian homes, more illegal Jewish settlements, and more Palestinians are losing their right in their own city. But then again, Abbas actually is not going against his “principles”, and he is not “lying” to us when he says he will not give up on “Al-Quds”, for he already had given up East Jerusalem and is content with “Al Quds” which is the name to be given to the three Jerusalem towns: Abu Dees, Sawahreh and Ezariyyeh. This was after all the deal: he increases his bank account, gets to be called Mr. President, gets to be head of the Ramallah-PNA, of the brain-dead PLO, of Fatah and who knows what else, and is most probably guaranteed to remain president till death do us part. This in return for giving up the heart of Jerusalem; the Old City and all that surrounds it. The Ramallah-PNA continues its theatricals by setting up decorative posts and offices, such as the Governor of Jerusalem and the Minister of Jerusalem Affairs and similar posts and committees within Fatah. These do nothing except talk, and have the duty of criticizing the ethnic cleansing of Jerusalem when it is a bit “embarrassing” for Abbas to do the criticizing himself and thus avoid “endangering the negotiation process”.

This is the same Abbas, who only a couple of weeks ago, swore not to go back to the negotiations with the Zionists unless they announce a complete halt to all illegal settlement activities in the Occupied Territories including East Jerusalem. But the minute he was invited to the White House to meet with Obama and Netanyahu, Abbas couldn't run fast enough to shake hands with the Zionist who wants to keep all illegal settlements, keep East Jerusalem as part of the “eternal capital of Israel”, and delete the Right of Return of some 8 million Palestinians. This is the same Abbas who accused Arafat of monopolizing power in the Occupied Territories, but when he himself became the head of the Ramallah-PNA, his monopolization of power went yet a step further. This is the same Abbas who insisted on holding the Fatah Convention, supposedly a liberation movement, under the eyes and ears of the Zionist occupation, and with its cooperation. Then, despite all critique, he goes on to increase the number of participants by the hundreds (!) to guarantee that only his gang wins. Even German newspaper, who are usually supportive of Fatah against Hamas, had to admit that this was just too fishy and too obvious to digest! Not to mention the fiasco of the 2006 elections! Today, Abbas and his gang call vehemently for new elections, saying they will respect the results whatever they are and accept them. Hello? We were not born yesterday? Our memory doesn't have short-circuits nor do we suffer from collective Alzheimer. The conflict between Fatah and Hamas is because Mr. Abbas and his gang still refuse to “respect and accept” the results of the last elections, which were, contrary to the Fatah elections, free and democratic and free of any manipulations whatsoever. What did he do, as president of the PNA and the Palestinians, when Israel arrested the ministers of the democratically newly elected government and the members of the PLC? I don't need to answer that, since most of them are still in Israeli prisons while Abbas hurries to shake hands with one fanatic and racist Jewish government after the other. And by the way, Mr. “president”, your presidency term expired last January. And never the less, he still claims he is the legitimate representative of the Palestinian people.

And to top it all, on October 1st, 2009, a date to remember, the Ramallah-PNA gang through its representative deferred the draft proposal at the Human Rights Council endorsing all the recommendations of the UN Fact Finding Mission, known as the Goldstone Report, thus a rare opportunity was missed to adopt a report accusing Israel of war crimes, not to mention denying the victims of the Gaza war in particular and the Palestinian people in general the right to bring the Israeli war criminals to justice. Abbas & Co thought that this “minor incident” will cause a tiny storm that will pass by like many before it. Unfortunately, I have to say, they were right to think they could get away with it, for we allowed them to get away with so much already. We all heard what Abbas and Co said immediately after Israel began its war on Gaza. We all heard them openly “justifying Israel’s terror”, accusing Hamas of causing the war and blaming it for the destruction! Can anyone be more insolent? We all saw the Abbas security beat demonstrators in Ramallah who wanted to express their support of their brothers and sisters in Gaza and to condemn the Israeli crimes. I particularly remember a scene when the PNA security thugs dispersed a peaceful demonstration; that of an elderly Palestinian who upon being beaten by a club, turned around to shout at the Palestinian security guy, to be taken aback on seeing it was a young Palestinian policewoman. Is this what Dayton teaches you? To beat the elderly with your clubs?

Days before, the Abbas & Co gang “swore” they will not be blackmailed by Israel over the Goldstone Report. Then, when it was made public that they had indeed asked for a postponement of the vote, and with public and international outrage getting louder, the charade began. Anyway, I was extremely furious on hearing what the Ramallah gang had done, and thought of writing a few lines to express my anger, to shout out loud that Abbas doesn't represent me and that the PLO in its current form does not represent me! But the scandal, the charade or call it whatever you want, was still unfolding. With every passing minute, new statements were made, new justifications made and new parties blamed for the crime committed. Practically, accusations were flying in all directions: east and west, south and north, and everyone, from friend to foe, was accused of being behind postponing the vote, except the Ramallah-PNA itself. One time it was the Arab brothers, another it was the Islamic countries and even Abbas’s “dear friends” the Americans were blamed for pressuring the “sulta”. Then it was said the delay was needed to collect enough support, although a supportive majority was already guaranteed and the report would have been adopted. Then it was said that they didn't want to “endanger the peace process”. Some sources said the delay was because of the mobile frequencies for which the Ramallah-PNA needed Israeli approval. Other sources said it was Israeli threats to expose Abbas & Co’s involvement in the Gaza war, which I tend to believe more.

Then, it was said it was Fayyad who gave the order, then it was Khreisheh, then it was Abbas, and who knows who would have been next to blame. It wouldn't have surprised me if Erekat had come on TV to announce that God had appeared to Abbas in dream and ordered him to delay the vote! Yes, so low can some sink, and so low can we also sink if after all of this we allow them to get away with it. Anyway, the charade goes on, and under pressure from the PA's executive council and the central committee of his Fatah party, Abbas launched an “investigation” into the delay. To investigate whom? Himself? Come on, we are fed up of your theatricals and lies, we know them by heart! Like you investigated Arafat’s death? Or the corruption accuses? Or the murder of Palestinian political prisoners in sulta prisons? Abbas, if your followers are so stupid, so brainwashed or so Dollar-greedy to accept everything you feed them without a doubt, you should know that the almost 10 million Palestinian in Occupied Palestine and in the Diaspora are not your property and that Palestine belongs to all of us and is not you property or that of your gang, and you have no right whatsoever to give up our rights. And then, when the lie was too enormous to cover, they admitted it. Erekat who is always ready with excuses for Israel but mercilessly dissects critics of the PNA with his tongue, admitted they were behind it and that they accept the “responsibility” for what happened. He admits the “mistake” (in honest Palestinian language: the catastrophe and the treason), and accepts responsibility for it, as if this will right the catastrophic wrong made.

And then Ereket comes on Al-Jazeera and claims the reason behind the delay was because the Goldstone report also accused Hamas of war crimes! One of the “Abbasis” commented on an article on the issue published on Al-Jazeera.net by saying that Abbas actually did the right thing, for if he was to let the vote take place, then Hamas would have been condemned and prosecuted and Abbas would have been forced to hand over “the Hamas war criminals to the UN”, which he didn't want to do! Where do these people live? In another Galaxy? Wasn't it them who blamed Hamas for the Gaza war and according to eyewitnesses gathered their security thugs at the border to Gaza so they can take-over the Strip after Israel had done its duty and destroyed Hamas? The current Ramallah so-called government is illegal, just like the occupation and didn't Abbas’s “sulta-presidency” term expire last January? I’m not a big fan of Hamas, but if Hamas or any other political party won a free democratic election fair and square, I have to accept that. This was always Palestinian democracy, practiced by Palestinians everywhere; in associations and unions, political parties, students councils, you name it. We vote and we accept the result. And now Abbas and Co., supported by “defenders of democracy” the US and Europe, want to teach us a new form of democracy, a form designed especially for the Arab world: if our allies don't win an election, we don't acknowledge it. And although we are not yet done with the lies, the justifications, the explanations and blaming others, Abbas who claims to be the protector of Palestinian rights, ran away to Rome to open a new embassy there. What a joke; yet another embassy for a country under occupation. And why the hell is he in Rome and not in Ramallah? Typical Abbas and his “sulta”: run away during the storm and return when all is calm again. Then, when the Libyan president calls for an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council to discuss the Goldstone report, “honest and loyal” Abbas hurries and welcomes the Libyan call! Who the hell are you kidding? You prevented a vote where there was no possibility of an American veto and welcome taking the vote to the house of the American veto? Well, yes of course you would welcome it; for here it is sure your partners in the crime, i.e. the Zionists, have the protection of a US veto. Mission accomplished! Now you are sure to get your Wataniya frequencies.

And in these days, in an effort to divert public attention from their crime, sulta-figures are shouting: Jerusalem! Alaqsa! Starting with Erekat, to Dahlan to Fayyad. Now you remember that Jerusalem is being ethnically cleansed? Now you remember that there is an Aqsa? The Judaization of Jerusalem and the attacks on Al-Aqsa did not start yesterday, so where were you? Where were you when Palestinians were thrown out of their houses in Jerusalem? Where were you when your “friends” and “partners” were constructing new illegal settlements in Jerusalem and expanding existing ones? Where were you when Al-Aqsa was attacked last week, or last month or the month before? Actually, you are fooling no one, so spare us the theatricals!

Since Abbas was sworn in as president in January 2005, what did he do to free Palestine from the Israeli occupation?
What did he do to improve the lives of the Palestinians? As far as I, every Palestinian and everyone well-informed about the situation in Occupied Palestine know, NOTHING! On the contrary, the situation in Occupied Palestine which was already bad for most Palestinians became worse. The Oslo negotiations had brought us nothing, nothing but suffering, loss, pain and Palestinian concessions. After some 16 years of useless “negotiations”:
Palestine is still under a most brutal Israeli military occupation.
Illegal Jewish settlement activities continue, new illegal Jewish settlements are being constructed and existing ones expand, with more Jewish-only roads.
The Judaization of Jerusalem goes on.
More Palestinian land is confiscated.
The construction of Israeli annexation Wall continues.
IOF attacks on unarmed civilians continue, leaving thousands of Palestinians killed, including children and women.
Palestinian cities and towns are being raided by the IOF almost on a daily basis, with some 11,000 Palestinians, including hundreds of children and some 32 women, in Israeli prisons.
Israel continues to impose total closure on the Occupied Territories, restricting the movement of Palestinians and controlling them even more with some 600 road blocks.
Israel continues its total siege of Gaza, making it the world’s biggest open-air prison.
Human rights violation of the Ramallah-PNA and misuse of power by PNA security services continue leading to the death of many. Illegal arrests by the Ramallah-PNA, including political arrests, continue.
Violations of right of freedom of expression by the Ramallah-PNA continue.

To sum up the achievements of the Ramallah-PNA: Not even one millimeter of Palestinian land had been liberated, corruption increased by maybe 10 folds if not more and IOF raids in the “liberated A & B areas” and elsewhere in Occupied Palestine are daily. Those who claim the opposite are either liars or fooling themselves.

Despite all of this, there are still “Abbasis” who defend the Ramallah-sulta and its “president”. And today, 08.10.2009, Fatah supporters organized a demo in Ramallah in which they hailed Abbas, called for national unity and to protect Jerusalem. I have only a few comments to this:
Now you call for national unity? You who are the reason for the inter-Palestinian conflict and you who, upon the request of your American friends, sabotaged every effort to achieve a national unity? Your call for national unity is only because you know it is the only thing that might save you from the rage of the nation. If it were others who had committed this unforgivable crime, you would never have called for national unity. On the contrary, you would have accused them of collaboration and treason, and said that it was not possible to reconcile with traitors.
Now you call for the protection of Jerusalem? You who have watched as Israel judaizes the city, attacks Al-Aqsa, expels Palestinian Jerusalemites and demolishes their homes, and did nothing? Even one of your own, Hatem Abdel Qader resigned over the negligence of Jerusalem on part of the PNA. You never gave a damn about Jerusalem, for the price for your sulta, your villas, your bank accounts and your Mercedes was Jerusalem.
You claim Abbas is the defender of Palestinian rights. But, if you forgot or most probably choose to forget, we haven’t. We still remember how before Arafat’s death, and when the US and Israel forced Abbas and Fayyad on Arafat, you Fatah people, of all people, accused Abbas and Fayyad openly of treason. Didn't you demand both step down from the posts which were also forced upon Arafat from the US and Israel? It is true that dollars have their own morals, and it seems today it is easy to become a traitor, but it is difficult to remain honest and loyal to your values.

Various demands from inside Occupied Palestine and from the Diaspora were made for Abbas to resign, remember, from a post he no longer has the right to, and demands were made for the Ramallah-PNA to be dismantled, a so-called government that is illegal. And as some 32 Palestinian groups in Europe put it: "the step to delay the endorsement was not less dangerous than the atrocities committed by the Israeli occupation in Gaza". These demands were long overdue and the delay only caused more suffering and more deaths. So to say, we are all responsible for the crimes committed in Gaza, and the crimes committed all over Occupied Palestine and against Diaspora Palestinian, for we have kept silent over the joint Israeli/Ramallah-PNA crimes against us for too long, and when we did criticize them, it was not in one unified strong voice guaranteed to shake off this illegal authority. Many of our political parties, movements, initiatives and civil organizations chose to stand aside and watch, issuing a statement of support or disagreement, depending on their own interests, every now and then, but not really talking in one unified strong language, nor standing together as one against this sulta that insolently and openly puts the interests of the occupier and its own private interests before those of the nation it claims to represent. And still some of these who claim to represent describe this crime as a “mistake that shouldn't be repeated”. No, it is not a “mistake”, but a crime, a crime against the victims of Gaza, against all Palestinian victims, against Palestinian legitimate rights, all Palestinians and against Palestine. They truly think this will just pass by like all their other crimes. Well, Abbas & Co, we are neither stupid nor weak nor subservient. The Israelis thought in the 1980’s that they had us under control, till the First Intifada proved them dead wrong. And in the 1990’s they thought again, together with the Ramallah-PNA, that they had us under control, and again we proved them wrong. And no matter how long it will take us this time, we will prove again and again to everyone who dares think they can control us and control our lives, our freedom and our rights, that we are neither dead nor sleeping nor brainwashed, and that Palestine is not for sale, nor are our legitimate rights. And when the time comes and we all stand up as one against those who continue to oppress us and against those who associate themselves with our oppressors, and march as one towards Jerusalem, we will neither forget, nor forgive.

Zionist Attacks on Al-Haram Al-Qudsi Ash-Sharif

Following is a chronological listing of the acts of terror and aggression and desecration against Al-Haram Ash-Sharif (the Noble Sanctuary) carried on by the Zionists since June 7, 1967:

07.06.1967: immediately after occupying East Jerusalem, the Zionists confiscated the keys to Bab El-Magharbeh, the Western Gate of Al-Aqsa compound. The Magharbeh Quarter with its 138 houses was destroyed, in addition to the Afdaliyeh school, the Buraq Mosque and the Magharbeh Mosque.

09.06.1967: for the first time since 1167, the congregational Friday prayer was not held on orders from the occupation authorities.

09.08.1967: Chief Chaplain of the Israeli Army Shlomo Goren, later Israel's chief Rabbi, leads 50 armed extremists ontoAl-Haram Ash-Sharif saying "It is a holy commandment" for Jews to go to the Muslim grounds, which Jews call the Temple Mount", and conducts prayers there.

16.06.1969: Israeli authorities seize the south-western section of Al-Haram Ash-Sharif compound.

18.8.1969: members of the Zionist group Bitar desecrate Al-Aqsa.

21.08.1969: a Zionist terrorist attempt to burn down Al-Aqsa:
On the morning of 21.8.1969 an Australian-born terrorist, Denis Michael Rohan, entered Al-Aqsa mosque and set the 800 year old Nurrudin Zinki Mihrab on fire, destroying the old priceless wood and ivory pulpit sent from Aleppo by the Muslim ruler Saladin and part of the ceiling. The fire broke out around 7: 20 am and the Palestinians rushed to extinguish it and save the mosque. Fire brigades from Bethlehem, Ramallah even far-away Nablus and Hebron rushed to help save Al-Aqsa, while the Israeli Jerusalem fire brigades, which were the closest to the scene, were for obvious reasons delayed. Also, for another “unexplained reason” some 8 minutes after the fire brigades started extinguishing the fire, the water supply was cut off, keeping in mind that the water supply and water network were under the control of the Israeli Jerusalem municipality. The Palestinian firemen, Palestinian Jerusalemites and all Palestinians who rushed from everywhere to save Al-Aqsa transported water in buckets by hand until they were able to extinguish the fire. And as usual, the Zionist state invented excuse after excuse to “justify” this crime, claiming the Zionist attacker was deranged, a claim given to all those who commit crimes against Palestinians to protect them from prosecution. Also, although it took almost 5 hours to distinguish the fire, Israelis later claimed it took only one hour in a blatant effort to minimize the hideous crime. Three days before the terror attack, on 18.8.1969, Yediot Ahronot published a report emphasizing that the “Solomon Temple” would be rebuilt in the same spot that “Strangers tried to seize”. On 25.8.1969 the Jerusalem Post published a report on the life of Rohan, who was brought by the Jewish Agency to work in a Kibbutz and to be educated in Zionist teachings and Hebrew language, relating Rohan’s dreams of building “Solomon’s Temple” in Jerusalem. While this terror attack was condemned worldwide, wide segments of the world Jewry and Christian Zionists praised it. On 15.9.1969 and after several meetings, the UN Security Council in its Resolution 271 (1969) condemned the act of destruction and profanation of Al-Aqsa.

16.11. 1969: The Israeli occupation authorities seize the Fakhriyya Corner on the south-western side of Al-Haram Ash-Sharif.

19.12.1969: a group of militant Jews storm their way to Al-Haram Ash-Sharif to "conduct Hanukkah prayers."

14.08.1970: an attempt by the fanatic “Temple Mount & Land of Israel Faithful“ group lead by fanatic Zionist Gershon Solomon to forcibly enter the premises of Al-Haram Ash-Sharif is repulsed by Palestinian. The confrontation resulted in tens of Palestinians being injured by Israeli army gunfire. This group is an ultra-fanatic Jewish group dedicated to the so-called rebuilding of the “Solomon Templ”e on the site of Al-Aqsa Mosque after demolishing it.

03.03.1971: Jewish fanatic Gershon Solomon leads “Temple Mount Faithful” followers onto Al-Haram Ash-Sharif, who are expelled after struggling with Palestinian guards.

11.07.1971: 12 members of the Bitar fanatic Zionist group enter the Al-Aqsa and try conducting praying there.

22.07.1971: the Bitar fanatic Zionist group conducts prayers in Al-Haram Ash-Sharif.

03.03.1974: Gershon Solomon and his followers storm Al-Aqsa Mosque.

14.07.1978: Gershon Solomon leads militant Jews onto Al-Haram Ash-Sharif.

08.1979: attempts by members of the Jewish extremist groups Gershon Solomon and Meir Kahane to enter Al-Aqsa Mosque are prevented by thousands of Palestinians; ensuing clashes leave dozens of Palestinians wounded.

11.10.1979: Israeli forces wound dozens of worshippers by shooting and throwing tear gas into Al-Aqsa.

19.04.1980: a group of Jewish Rabbis and sages hold a semi-secret conference devoted to exploring ways and means "to liberate the Temple Mount from Muslim hands" and announce they would work on overtaking Al-Aqsa.

10.08.1980: 300 heavy armed Gush Emunim fanatic settlers overcome Palestinian guards and storm Al-Haram Ash-Sharif, but are later dispersed. These fanatics are associated with Stanley Goldfoot and the “Temple Mount Faithful” fanatic group.

28.08.1980: The Israeli occupation authorities dug a tunnel right underneath Al-Aqsa Mosque.

05.09.1980: Rabbi Meir Kahane of the Gush Emunim terrorist group attempts to blow up Al-Aqsa with explosives. 120 kg of high explosives and scores of bombs were accidentally discovered only 2 minutes before donation at a distance of 50 m from Al-Aqsa. It was a Friday, meaning a day when tens of thousands of Palestinians would gather in Al-Haram Ash-Sharif for prayer.

15.09.1980: heavily armed Gush Emunim fanatic settlers again force their way onto Al-Haram Ash-Sharif.

28.08.1981: Israeli authorities start digging a tunnel beneath Al-Aqsa, weakening the foundations of the compound.

30.03.1982: Numerous letters sent to Muslim Waqf authorities urging them to abandon the “Temple Mount” and warning them of the dire consequence of their "usurpation of our Temple". The letters were written in Hebrew, English, French, Spanish and Polish.

08.04.1982: explosives placed by the terror group Gush Emunim were discovered at the entrance to Al-Aqsa and dismantled. Beside the explosives were pamphlets threatening to blow up Al-Aqsa Mosque and physically liquidate the religious dignitaries. The threats were written in broken Arabic and issued from the Kiryat Arba illegal Jewish settlement.

11.04.1982: Zionists commit a massacre at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, killing 9 Palestinians and injuring over 100:
On early morning on Sunday 11.4.1982 the heavily armed American Israeli soldier Alan Harry Goodman made his way to Al-Aqsa, killing 1 Palestinian unarmed Mosque guard at the Magharbeh Gate. The IOF soldiers who sat there did not interfere. Goodman then went inside Al-Haram Ash-Sharif compound and killed another two unarmed Palestinian guards before storming Al-Aqsa and opening fire at the worshippers there for a whole half an hour, without any interference or any attempts to stop him from the IOF. 9 Palestinians were killed and some 100 wounded. He then directed his fire at the pulpit, the chandeliers, the mosaic, the marble and the carpets, some of which caught fire. Goodman attempts to blow up the Dome of the Rock but is prevented by a Palestinian. When the Israeli soldiers finally interfered, it was to protect the killer: a curfew was imposed on the old city, and part of one of the walls of Al-Haram Ash-Sharif was demolished. The Israeli government, as usual, declared the soldier to be mentally ill, like all those “deranged people” before him who tried in strangely well-organized operations to destroy Al-Aqsa and with the strangely full cooperation of the IOF present there. And if he was mentally ill, what was he doing serving in the Israeli army? Or is being mentally ill a prerequisite for service in the IOF? When after a short sentence, Goodman was released by order of the Israeli government, he boasted: "I fulfilled my mission."

20.05.1982: Several Zionist organizations sent death threats to Muslim Waqf officials.

25.07.1982: Yoel Lerner of the terror group Meir Kahane Kach movement, storms Al-Haram Ash-Sharif with plans to dynamite and destroy the Dome of the Rock.

10.03.1983: Armed Gush Emunim Jewish terrorists climb the walls onto Al-Haram Ash-Sharif and lay siege to Al-Aqsa Mosque. They have in their possession large quantities of explosives, automatic rifles and pistols. 29 of these terrorists are charged and held for trial, but are quit by an Israeli court 6 months later.

26.03.1983: The main entrance to the Jerusalem's Waqf department collapsed due to Israeli excavations underneath.

20.11.1983: US Jews begin fundraising for the construction of the "Third Temple" to be built on Al-Aqsa compound.

27.01.1984: a group of Jewish terrorists, led by Rabbi Moshe Levinger, one of the most militant of Jewish extremists, attempt to dynamite and destroy Al-Aqsa. They were found armed with 250 pounds of explosives, including dozens of grenades, boxes of dynamite and 12 rounds of mortar.

21.08.1985: The Israeli police allow Jewish extremists to hold prayers within the confines of Al-Haram Ash-Sharif premises.

04.08. 1986: A group of Rabbis issued final ruling allowing Jews to pray at Al-Haram Ash-Sharif and announce the decision to build a Synagogue in Al-Aqsa yard.

12.05.1988: Israeli soldiers open fire on a peaceful Palestinian march at Al-Haram Ash-Sharif, killing and wounding about a hundred Palestinians.

02.07.1988: The Israeli Ministry of Religious Affairs begins digging a tunnel near al-Ghanmeh Gate.

14.01.1989: under the protection of Israeli police, a number of Knesset members read the so-called “Holy Mercy” inside Al-Aqsa.

08.10.1990: Zionists commit a massacre at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, killing 23 Palestinians and injuring over 900:
Since 1967, the “Temple Mount Faithful” fanatic Jewish group continuously attacked Al-Aqsa with the protection and the support of the IOF. Such attacks often ended with Palestinians being killed, wounded or arrested. The worst of these terror attacks is the Al Aqsa massacre. Several days before the massacre this fanatic group informed the media of its intentions to march to Al-Aqsa, on the occasion of a religious festival known as the “Throne Festival”, and place the foundation stone of the so-called “Third Temple”. They called on all Jews to join in this march and their leader and founder Gershon Solomon announced that the "the Arab-Islamic occupation of the temple area must come to an end, and the Jews must renew their profound ties to the sacred area." Calls were made to the Palestinians to come and protect Al-Aqsa. On Monday 08.10.1990, some 200,000 fanatic Zionist Jews marched to Al-Aqsa. The Israeli army assisted the fanatics as usual and eased their mission by placing military checkpoints along the entrances to the city, so as to prevent the Palestinians from getting in and protecting the Al-Aqsa. Nevertheless, thousands of Palestinians had already gathered inside Al-Aqsa since the night before and early morning. It was when the Palestinians tried preventing the fanatic group from placing the so-called ”foundation stone” for their so-called temple, that the massacre began. IOF soldiers and the fanatic settlers starting shooting randomly at the unarmed Palestinians, not distinguishing between young and old, men and women, and using machine guns and gas bombs. Israeli helicopters participated in the massacre from the air. The massacre lasted 35 minutes, from 10:00 to 10:35, in which 23 Palestinians were killed and some 900 injured, most of the wounds being in the head and in the heart. And as if that wasn’t enough, the IOF then started beaten the people with their clubs and rifles.

Eyewitnesses later reported that even those who lie wounded on the ground or in ambulances were shot at. “Nurse Fatima Abu Khadir said that “We went into the mosque precincts in an ambulance. I saw a large number of injured who had fallen on the ground. Then I saw lots of soldiers, hundreds of soldiers. They were about 30 meters from the ambulance and kneeling on one knee the way snipers do, and their weapons were aimed inside the ambulance. After that I couldn’t see anything.”

News agencies described the blessed precincts of al-Aqsa Mosque saying that blood had covered “the entire two hundred meters between the Dome of the Rock and al-Aqsa Mosque. Blood was flowing everywhere, all over the wide steps, and had stained the white tile the length of the broad courtyard, as well as the doors of both mosques. The walls of the two mosques had long, crimson lines etched onto hem by bleeding hands, and blood had stained the white uniforms of the woman first-aid workers. Everyone - the wounded and the more fortunate, first-aid workers, journalists, and Israeli soldiers - all of them looked as though they were swimming in blood.
Physician Muhammad Abu ‘Ayila relates what happened to him and to a wounded man to whom he had been trying to administer first aid, and how the Zionists’ glee at the sight of Palestinian blood spilled in the precincts of the holy mosque had blinded their eyes so much that they couldn’t distinguish between a young child and an old man, between a man and a woman, between a wounded man and one seeking to treat him. He says, “I got out of the ambulance carrying a first-aid kit. I was wearing a white uniform. The soldiers saw me and knew I was a doctor. But when I got to the wounded person nearest me and bent down to treat him, I got three bullets in my back in the region of the kidney. At that very moment, the wounded man near me died. But he could have been saved if I hadn’t been hit.”

The Zionist government, in its usual way to trick the international community, announced the formation of an investigation committee. Such committees which are always comprised of Mossad and IOF personnel, have the duty of clearing Israel’s responsibility and placing the blame on the Palestinians. So it was no surprise this time too that the victims were blamed for being killed and that the murderers were announced to be not guilty. The committee announced that, “The report confirms clearly that the responsibility and fault for escalating [the conflict] lies on the side of the thousands of Muslim extremists, who were attacking the holy place of the Jews.”

12.1994: The Islamic Waqf warns that diggings conducted by the Israeli Ministry of Religion beneath Al-Aqsa mosque may lead to its collapse, saying Israeli workers use chemicals to dissolve the rocks. Other diggings in the past led to the collapse of a stone wall on Al-Haram Ash-Sharif and allow entry to the compound from tunnels.

Zionist definition of religious tolerance: If it’s not Jewish, either we Judaize it or we destroy it!

Last Sunday 27.09.2009, some 150 Jewish fanatics entered the Al-Haram Ash-Sharif (the Noble Sanctuary) and tried to enter Al-Aqsa Mosque to hold rituals inside it. Those fanatics were escorted and protected by the IOF, who fired rubber-coated bullets and stun grenades in abundance at the Palestinians gathering there to protect the mosque. Several Palestinians were injured and several detained. This was by no means the first time in which Jewish fanatics attempt to storm Al-Haram Ash-Sharif and pray in Al-Aqsa mosque, one of the holiest sites in Islam. On the contrary, such attempts have actually increased with time becoming the rule rather than the exception. Since the first Zionist set foot in Palestine, Zionists have carried out one massacre after the other against the Palestine people, with the aim of emptying the land of its original people so that their lie of a land without people for a people without a land would come true. And while Palestinians were and still are being accused by the whole world of terrorism for defending themselves, fanatic Zionists continue to carry out terror acts on almost a daily basis supported by the Zionist entity which is in itself a terror state, attacking unarmed civilians in occupied Palestine and neighbouring countries with sophisticated and illegal weapons and later crying: Anti-Semitism and Holocaust. For the Zionist lie to work, it was necessary to erase all evidence of another nation; their cities and villages, their agriculture and industry, their culture, their religious site and most importantly it was important to erase the people themselves. 61 years and the Palestinians, the nation and their culture, are still there, which caused the Zionists to increase their efforts and increase their attacks on all that is Palestinian. The Zionists stole a land that belongs to another people and called it Israel. They stole the Palestinian Thoub, Palestinian dishes, Palestinian folklore songs and introduced them as theirs. They stole Palestine’s natural resources and resold them as theirs. They stole the Ibrahimi Mosque and now want to steal Al-Aqsa and the Dome of the Rock.

Immediately after the occupation of East Jerusalem in 1967, the Zionists began with the ethnic cleansing of Jerusalem to make place for American and European Jews. They began implementing their plans to delete Palestinian Jerusalem and replace it with a Zionist version. One important landmark, a distinctive feature, of Palestinian Jerusalem is Al-Haram Ash-Sharif compound which includes Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock. To completely wipe out any Palestinian feature of the city, it was necessary to wipe out Al-Haram Ash-Sharif compound. To achieve this, a series of attacks, under various naming and excuses, were carried out on the Noble Sanctuary. These include:

1. The complete destruction of the Magharbeh Muslim Quarter and Al-Sharaf neighbourhood adjacent to the walls of Al-Aqsa Mosque. Hundreds of Palestinian houses and building were demolished and the residents expelled to make place for a Jewish Quarter, and on the ruins of Palestinian homes a Plaza was erected for the Western Wall.

2. Excavations and Digging underneath Al-Haram Ash-Sharif compound and around it with the excuse of archaeology. Under the directions of the Jewish state, a Jewish archaeological team has been digging under and around the Al-Haram Ash-Sharif since 1968 in search of any traces of a Jewish Temple. This weakened the foundations of the compound and threats it with sure collapse. These excavations and tunnel diggings constitute a violation of the Hague and the Geneva Conventions and the various resolutions of the UN Security Council and the UNESCO regarding Jerusalem. In addition to that, the Noble Sanctuary is a holy site to Muslims all over the world and destroying it in search of possible Jewish relics shows disdain and contempt towards Islam. Here is a short chronology of the Zionist excavations:

1967-1968: extensive diggings carried out on an area of 70 m² under the southern wall of Al-Aqsa.

1969: the continuous diggings exceeded an area of 80 m² adjacent to the wall of Al-Aqsa and the demolition of the Magharbeh Quarter.

1970: diggings caused serious cracks that weakened the foundation of the Ottoman Mosque (Ribat Al-Kurd) and the Jawhiriya School.

1972-1974: diggings behind the wall of Al-Aqsa that extend across its southern wall and under the Mihrab pulpit and beneath the Mosque of Omar. In addition, diggings in the eastern side of the wall near the Golden Gate, inflicting extensive damage upon the ancient Islamic cemetery there. And the expansion of the area of the Wailing Wall with the purpose of destroying several historic Islamic buildings in the area surroundings the Wailing Wall.

1977: an Israeli Ministerial Committee endorsed the implementation of this plan, which includes the demolition of several Islamic historic buildings, including the Old Islamic Shari’s Court, the Tankinazia School, the Khalidiya Library, a charitable Zawiya (corner) and the Abu-Median ancient Mosque.

1980: digging a tunnel right underneath Al-Aqsa Mosque.

1981: continuous diggings beneath the Noble Sanctuary, and Israel announces the “discovery” of a tunnel beneath the Wailing Wall and the Dome of the Rock which extends between both, as well as beneath the foundation of Al-Aqsa Mosque. Despite protests the diggings go on.

1988: digging a new tunnel near al-Ghanmeh Gate.

1994: digging a tunnel under the Via Dolorosa which threatens Islamic property around Al-Aqsa compound. Later in the year, Israeli media report that the Israeli authorities plan to start a huge project (”The King’s Hill”) around the Old City. This project is to include a 4-acre park at Salawduha area, roads to the Church of Gethsemane, construction of “Rahma Gate” underneath Al-Aqsa Mosque, and a subterranean road from the Church of Gethsemane to the wall of Silwan.
1995: the Israeli Antiquities Authority announces plans to uncover the ruins of the Solomon Temple, supposedly located under Al-Aqsa Mosque. This involves large-scale digs and violates international law. The UNESCO files a formal protest with the Israeli authorities about the excavations in the Old City, incl. the digging under Al-Aqsa Mosque.

1996: Ateret Cohanim, funded largely through tax-exempt dollars donated by rich American Jews such as Irving Moskowitz, opened a tunnel - excavated in secret night-time operations – that runs the length of Al-Aqsa compound. The controversial tunnel sparked intense clashes that claimed the lives of 60 Palestinians.

1997: new Israeli diggings under Al-Aqsa Mosque.

2009: Israeli authorities begin excavations to build a tunnel near Al-Aqsa Mosque. The tunnel was being built underneath the Arab neighbourhood of Silwan and is now 120 meters long, 1.5 meters wide and 3 meters high. The tunnel is heading north toward Al-Aqsa Mosque and would be connected with another one being built underneath Silwan neighbourhood, with the aim of eventually connecting it with the network of tunnels that leads to Al-Aqsa. The objective of the excavation is to demolish Al-Aqsa and to build the so-called second temple on its ruins.

The continuous diggings and building works beneath the Al-Haram Ash-Sharif using heavy equipment and chemicals to dissolve the rocks weakens the foundations of the compound. These Israeli diggings have lead to the collapse of the main entrance to the Jerusalem’s Waqf department, the collapse of the roof of Othman’s Mosque and the collapse of a stone wall on the Noble Sanctuary. They also allow unauthorized entry to the compound from tunnels. At the same time, the Israeli authorities prevent the Palestinian Islamic Waqf authorities from conducting any building or renovation works in the Noble Sanctuary compound. The Israeli police continuously interferences in Waqf responsibilities, often after the complaints of fanatics Jewish groups who want the compound for themselves, or Israeli archeologists who want to dig up the whole compound in search of a temple. For example, in 1998 the Israeli police ordered the Waqf to stop the renovations of a vault underneath Al-Aqsa that is sometimes used for prayers. A year later, the Israeli police prevented the expansion of a window opened up by the Waqf to provide light and air for basement rooms under the Al-Aqsa. Zionist insolence knows no limit; the “Temple Mount Faithful” fanatics, known for their numerous attempts to destroy Al-Aqsa, even went as far as to petition the Israeli High Court of Justice to order the Israel Antiques Authority to supervise construction works carried out by Palestinians in Al-Haram Ash-Sharif in order to “prevent damage and theft of antiques”.

3. Repeated attempts by fanatic Jewish terrorists to destroy Al-Aqsa and the Dome of the Rock Immediately after the IOF occupied the Old city of Jerusalem, Shlomo Goren who was the army’s chief rabbi, urged the army to blow up Al-Aqsa mosque and the Dome of the Rock. This incident was reported by General Uzi Narkiss:

“The paratroopers wandered around the plaza as if in a dream. Rabbi Shlomo Goren was among them. I was alone for a moment, lost in thought, when Rabbi Goren approached me. ‘Uzi,’ Rabbi Goren said to me. ‘Now is the time to put 100 kilograms of explosives into the Mosque of Omar so that we may rid ourselves of it once and for all.’
“I said to him, ‘Rabbi, enough.’
“He said, ‘Uzi, you will go down in history if you do this.’
“I answered, ‘My name will already be written in the history books of Jerusalem.’
“But Goren persisted. ‘You don’t grasp what tremendous significance this would have. This is an opportunity that can be taken advantage of now, at this moment. Tomorrow it will be too late.’
“I said ‘Rabbi, if you don’t stop, I’ll take you to jail.’
“Thus the discussion, which only lasted a few minutes, came to an end. Rabbi Goren turned and walked away in silence.”
Later that year, the Israeli army radio also played a tape of a speech Goren made to a military convention, in which he said:
“I told this to the defense minister (Moshe Dayan) and he said, ‘I understand what you are saying, but do you really think we should have blown up the mosque?’ and I said, ‘Certainly we should have blown it up.’
“It is a tragedy for generations that we did not do so. … I myself would have gone up there and wiped it off the ground completely so that there was no trace that there was ever a Mosque of Omar there.”

This was the first in many attempts to destroy Al-Aqsa and the Dome of the Rock. While is the fanatic Jewish terrorists who again and again try to destroy Al-Aqsa, it is the Palestinians who are prevented from praying there and it is the Palestinians who get shot, wounded and arrested when they try to protect their holy sites from the Jewish terrorists. Here is a listing of some of the Jewish attempts to destroy Al-Aqsa and the Dome of the Rock:

09.08.1967: IOF rabbi Shlomo Goren, later Israel’s chief Rabbi, leads 50 armed extremists onto Al-Haram Ash-Sharif saying “It is a holy commandment” for Jews to go to the Muslim grounds, which Jews call the Temple Mount”, and conducts prayers there.

21.08.1969: a Zionist terrorist attempt to burn down Al-Aqsa:
On the morning of 21.8.1969, an Australian-born terrorist, Denis Michael Rohan, entered Al-Aqsa mosque and set the 800 year old Nurrudin Zinki Mihrab on fire, destroying the old priceless wood and ivory pulpit sent from Aleppo by the Muslim ruler Saladin and part of the ceiling. When the fire broke out around 7:20 am, the Palestinians rushed to extinguish it and save the mosque. Fire brigades from Bethlehem, Ramallah even far-away Nablus and Hebron rushed to help save Al-Aqsa, while the Israeli Jerusalem fire brigades, which were the closest to the scene, were for “unexplained reasons” delayed. For another “unexplained reason” some 8 minutes after the fire brigades started extinguishing the fire, the water supply was cut off, keeping in mind that the water supply and water network were under the control of the Israeli Jerusalem municipality. Also, although it took almost 5 hours to extinguish the fire, Israelis later claimed it took only one hour in a blatant effort to minimize the hideous crime. Three days before the terror attack, on 18.8.1969, Israeli Yediot Ahronot published a report emphasizing that the “Solomon Temple” would be rebuilt in the same spot that “Strangers tried to seize”.

11.04.1982: Zionists commit a massacre at Al-Aqsa Mosque, killing at least 3 Palestinians and injuring over 100:
On early morning on Sunday 11.4.1982 the heavily armed American Israeli soldier Alan Harry Goodman made his way to Al-Aqsa, killing 1 Palestinian unarmed Mosque guard at the Magharbeh Gate. The IOF soldiers who sat there did not interfere. Goodman then went inside the Noble Sanctuary compound and killed another two unarmed Palestinian guards before storming Al-Aqsa and opening fire at the worshippers there for a whole half an hour, without any interference or any attempts to stop him from the IOF. He then directed his fire at the pulpit, the chandeliers, the mosaic, the marble and the carpets, some of which caught fire. Goodman attempts to blow up the Dome of the Rock but is prevented by a Palestinian. When the Israeli soldiers finally interfered, it was to protect the killer: a curfew was imposed on the old city, and part of one of the walls of the Holy Sanctuary was demolished. The Israeli government, as usual, declared the soldier to be mentally ill, like all those “deranged people” before him who tried in strangely well-organized operations to destroy Al-Aqsa and with the full cooperation of the IOF present there. And if he was mentally ill, what was he doing serving in the Israeli army? Or is being mentally ill a prerequisite for service in the IOF? When after a short sentence, Goodman was released by order of the Israeli government, he boasted: “I fulfilled my mission.”

25.07.1982: Yoel Lerner of the terror group Meir Kahane Kach movement storms the Noble Sanctuary with plans to dynamite and destroy the Dome of the Rock.

10.03.1983: Armed Gush Emunim Jewish terrorists climb the walls onto the Noble Sanctuary and lay siege to Al-Aqsa. They have large quantities of explosives, automatic rifles and pistols. 29 of these terrorists are charged and held for trial, but are quit by an Israeli court 6 months later.

29.11.1994: Fanatic settlers from the “Chai Vekayam” movement attempt to break into Al-Haram Ash-Sharif compound. This terrorist movement seeks to reestablish the “Kingdom of Israel” and to recapture the ‘Temple Mount’, and its leader, Yehuda Ezion, was previously involved with the Jewish terrorist underground and participated in the plan to blow up the Dome of the Rock for which he was sentenced to 7 years prison.

30.12.1995: Israeli police arrest right-wing Jew Eyal Kenan in the Old City. Kenans plans to attack Al Aqsa with anti-tank missiles were known.

27.03.1997: Two explosive devises are found in a drainage pipe near Al-Aqsa Mosque.

13.05.1998: Israeli extremists set ablaze Bab Al-Ghawanmeh, one of the gates leading to Al-Aqsa compound, destroying a substantial part of the ancient gate.

07.01.2001: Israeli security officers warn publicly of security threats to Al-Haram Ash-Sharif by extremist Jewish groups.

17.10.2004: Israel’s security chiefs warn of the growing risk of an attack by Jewish extremists on Al-Aqsa Mosque.

16.05.2005: Israeli Jerusalem Police and the Shin Bet reveal that five Jews were arrested on suspicion of planning an attack on Al-Aqsa Mosque. All five were released soon after.

4. Repeated attempts by fanatic Jewish groups to enter Al-Haram Ash-Sharif and pray in Al-Aqsa and the Dome of the Rock. Clashes erupted each time between the fanatic Jews and the Palestinians who were protecting Al-Aqsa, leading to the death and injury of hundreds of Palestinians. During over 100 registered attacks, the IOF always gave cover to and protected the Jewish attackers and participated in the massacres committed by these fanatic Zionists. Praying and performing religious rituals in the Noble Sanctuary compound are intended to make way for a division and a later complete take-over of the compound, similar to what they did with the Ibrahim mosque, where today Palestinians have control over only 10% of the mosque and the rest has been turned into a synagogue and other Jewish facilities. Those involved and dedicated to the destruction of Al-Aqsa and the Dome of the Rock include:
1 the Zionist state with its various authorities,
2 Fanatic Jewish terror groups,
3 Christian fundamentalists,
4 Wealthy Jews from the United States and elsewhere.

Jewish and Christian Zionists join efforts in order to fulfil the dream of building the “third temple” and hastening the return of the Messiah. For this purpose, they established the “The Temple Mount Faithful Foundation” which has offices in Los Angeles and in Jerusalem. Members include Jewish Zionists living in the United States and elsewhere, fanatic Jewish organizations and fanatic American Christian evangelists. They provide financial support to Jewish militant groups in Occupied Palestine to carry on with their plans to destroy Al-Aqsa. One member of the board of Directors is Stanley Goldfoot. Goldfoot, a Jew from South Africa, was a member of the Irgun Z’vai Leumi Jewish terror group and was one of the four Jewish terrorists who placed bombs in 1946 under the King David Hotel that killed some 100 Muslim, Christian and Jewish civilians.
“The contemplated projects of this foundation as they appear in a brochure printed by it are the following: “1. Jewish Temple Foundation office at the Temple Mount area in Jerusalem. 2. The establishment of a Temple Mount area in Jerusalem. 3. Assistance in land and buildings redemption by Jews in Israel. 4. Freedom for Jews and Christians to worship on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. 5. The use of geophysical methods for archaeological surveys in Jerusalem. 6. Preparations for the construction of the Third Temple in Jerusalem. 7. Preparation of films and video presentations related to the Temple Mount. 8. Other projects as necessary and as funds are made available.” (Source: http://www.jerusalemites.org/crimes/crimes_against_islam/1.htm)

In 1999 the “Temple Mount Faithful” urged wealthy Jews from around the world to help seize a number of Arab houses in the vicinity of Al-Aqsa Mosque and circulated a model drawing of the envisioned Temple to be build at the site of Al-Aqsa. Also, in 2003 a group of Jewish Americans launched a campaign entitled “Temple Mount – Heart of the Nation” and calling for strengthening Jewish presence at Al-Haram Ash-Sharif. Christian Zionists endorse and financially support the attempts to destroy Al-Aqsa out of their belief that “God has planned epochs of time (“dispensations”) such as an “in-gathering” of Jews in the ancient land of Canaan. One epoch, they say, includes the present time when Jews are obligated to build a Jewish temple and re-institute animal sacrifice. Such epochs or “dispensations” are necessary, they say before Christ can return.” They donate generously and give “their gold wedding rings and gold earrings to finance the mosque’s destruction. They know its destruction might well trigger wars culminating in Armageddon, but they welcome this. They push Armageddon along, saying they, as “Born-Again Christians,” will be spared any suffering, because they will be “Raptured,” wafted up to heaven to view the slaughter below.”

The support of the Christian Zionists is not limited to financial support, as in the case of the Australian Christian Zionist Denis Michael Rohan, who on 21.08.1969 attempted to burn down Al-Aqsa (see above). As always, the Zionist state claimed Rohan was deranged and while his terror act was condemned worldwide, Jewish and Christian Zionists praised it. In 1999, members of the American sect ‘Concerned Christians’ are arrested after their plans to destroy Al-Aqsa and build a temple in its place before committing group suicide on the eve of 2000 are exposed.

Jewish Zionists are two groups: religious fanatics and secular Jews. While the religious fanatics want to destroy Al-Aqsa to build their “third temple” and hasten the return of the Jewish Massiah, secular Jews want its destruction for political reasons. There are many fanatic Jewish groups working in Occupied Palestine and bent on destroying Al-Aqsa in order to build a “third temple” in its place. These militant settler groups are heavily armed and well-equipped with explosives, machine guns and bombs. Some have militants as leaders, other are led by fanatic rabbis.

“Temple Mount and Eretz Yisrael Faithful”
One very active fanatic militant Jewish group is the “Temple Mount Faithful”, lead by fanatic Zionist and former IOF officer Gershon Solomon. This group is an ultra-fanatic Jewish group dedicated to the so-called rebuilding of the “Solomon Temple” on the site of Al-Aqsa Mosque after demolishing it. Their attempts to storm Al-Aqsa and pray in it are numerous and often ended in clashes (see list for chronology of attacks). And despite their militant nature and their call for the destruction of Al-Aqsa, Israeli authorities often give them permission to enter Al-Haram Ash-Sharif to conduct Jewish rituals and even provide them with protection. The worst of their attacks led to Al-Aqsa massacre, when on 8.10.1990 23 Palestinians were killed and hundreds injured. The members of the “Temple Mount Faithful” had announced their intention to enter Al-Aqsa and place a “foundation stone” for a “Third Temple”. The IOF protected these fanatic settlers and opened fire at the Palestinians who had rushed to protect Al-Aqsa. A farce Israeli investigation committee was set, and as usual its results put the blame on the victims: “The report confirms clearly that the responsibility and fault for escalating [the conflict] lies on the side of the thousands of Muslim extremists, who were attacking the holy place of the Jews.”[1]

Gush Emunim
The most active among these fanatic Jewish groups is the “Bloc of the Faithful” or Gush Emunim, which is a settler movement composed of militant Jewish settlers and led by militant rabbis such as Meir Kahane and Moshe Levinger. Gush Emunim is associated with Stanley Goldfoot and the “Temple Mount Faithful” fanatic group, and its members believe that they can hasten the return of the Massiah through Jewish settlement in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. They are heavily armed and have tried a number of times to blow up Al-Aqsa. On 05.09.1980 rabbi Meir Kahane attempted to blow up Al-Aqsa with explosives. Two years later, on 08.04.1982, explosives placed by Gush Emunim were discovered at the entrance to Al-Aqsa and dismantled. On 10.03.1983, armed Gush Emunim Jewish terrorists climbed the walls onto Al-Haram Ash-Sharif and lay siege to Al-Aqsa Mosque with the intent of blowing it up. On 27.01.1984, members of the group led by Rabbi Moshe Levinger attempted to dynamite and destroy Al-Aqsa.

Other fanatic Jewish groups include Chai Vekayam led by Yehuda Ezion, a member of the Jewish terrorist underground who was involved in the attempt to blow up the Dome of the Rock. This group seeks to destroy Al-Aqsa and the Dome of the Rock to re-establish the “Kingdom of Israel”. With the protection of the Israeli police, members of this group were allowed to enter Al-Aqsa compound. In 1999, Chai Vekayam started a campaign to raise funds for rebuilding the Jewish temple on the site of Al-Aqsa Mosque. Another group is the Meir Kahane Kach terrorist organization, responsible for the Ibrahimi mosque massacre 1994, and the Bitar Zionist movement. These groups either work alone or, as in several cases, carry out joint terror attacks.

Covering up and protecting those Jewish terrorists is the Zionist state. Not only did the Israeli occupation authorities seize parts of Al-Haram Ash-Sharif, such as Buraq Wall, they dig tunnels, allow excavations, surround the Noble Sanctuary with illegal settlements and plan on turn the whole compound into a Jewish site. The Israeli High Court allows fanatic Jews, who had previously threatened to blow up Al-Aqsa, to enter it and worship there. The IOF protects these fanatic militant settlers and allows them to desecrate Al-Haram Ash-Sharif, and when these fanatic Jews attempt to blow up Al-Aqsa or commit a massacre, it is the Palestinians who are punished: whenever clashes erupt between fanatic Jews and Palestinians, the Israeli police kills, wounds and arrests the Palestinians. Also, the Israeli authorities places restrictions on Palestinians wishing to pray in Al-Aqsa, whereas Palestinians from occupied West Bank and Gaza have no access no East Jerusalem nor to their holy sites there. After every Jewish terror attack, Israeli authorities claim it to be an isolated incident, conducted by a mentally ill person and goes on to strengthen its grip on Al-Aqsa compound. And if it happens, and a Zionist terrorist is charged, it is sure the Zionist terrorist will be quitted soon after. It often happens that these fanatics are openly refused access to Al-Haram Ash-Sharif by the Israeli authority, to be given the permission two or three days later. The increase in Jewish terror attacks, combines with the presence and cooperation of Israeli soldiers, shows the intent of the Zionist state to destroy Al-Aqsa and erase Palestinian presence and rights in the city. On 12.04.1982, New York Times correspondent David Shipler wrote about Israeli troops: “Just before going, one of them, with a laugh, threw a tear gas grenade near the (Al Aqsa) Mosque upwind of the main door. Smoke from the perfectly placed canister blew into the mosque, and worshippers came out coughing and wiping their eyes. One elderly man was carried to an ambulance. A few of the troops walked away laughing.”[2] The Zionist massacre committed in Al-Aqsa on 11.04.1982 was carried out by the American Israeli soldier Alan Harry Goodman. As Goodman killed unarmed Palestinian Mosque guards on his way to blow up Al-Aqsa, nearby Israeli soldiers did not interfere. Another example of the involvement of the Israeli authorities in the plans to destroy Al-Aqsa is the appointment in 1994 of Meir Davidson as municipal adviser on Palestinian properties. Davidson is a senior official of Ateret Cohanim, an organization whose aim is destruction of Al-Aqsa mosque.

Yesterday, while waiting for my train, I went into a bookstore and checked the books and magazines there. There were a number of traveller dictionaries on display. The French-German dictionary had a picture of the Eifel towel on its cover, the English-German one had a picture of the London tower, and the Hebrew-German one had a picture of the Dome of the Rock. Now, why would the Zionist state allow a picture of one of the most holy of Islamic sites be used as reference to their “state”? This reminded me of a poster I once saw in a tourist office. It was an advertisement to visit the Zionist entity, and the picture used to promote this entity was again the Dome of the Rock. There stood the Dome of the Rock, in all its splendour, and above it the title: come and visit Israel. Why would Israel allow tourist offices to promote the Dome of the Rock as the ultimate Jewish attraction? This has nothing to do with religious tolerance or anything of the sort. The Zionists are the last to talk about religious tolerance, for they are well-known for their record of restricting the religious freedom of Palestinian Muslims and Christians. Who was it that besieged the Nativity Church? Who was it that destroyed one of the oldest churches in the Ramallah area? Attacks on religious site are not only restricted to Muslim sites. Many Christian churches, convents and institutions were destroyed and desecrated by the Zionists. Christian cemeteries were desecrated and vandalized by IOF soldiers. Israeli soldiers and settlers threw stink bombs inside churches and at Christian priests. There are numerous examples. To mention only a couple:

27.04.1990: the Church of the Holy Sepulchre locked its doors for first time in 800 years, and all other Christian Shrines in the country also closed in protest over the presence of Jewish settlers in St. John’s Hospice in Jerusalem.
31.05.2002: the medieval Christian church St. Barbara in Aboud was destroyed by Israeli explosives.
From 02.04.2002 to 10.05.2002: The Israeli Siege of the Nativity Church. The Statue of the Virgin Mary was hit by Israeli bullets, St. Catherine’s Chapel was hit by Israeli gunfire, several rooms in the church were destroyed by fire caused by Israeli shells and sniper bullets, windows were broken, and the church’s Manger square was destroyed by the chains of Israeli tanks.
And in the process of building the illegal Jewish settlement Har Homa, a number of religious Christian sites located on Abu Ghneim were destroyed, including the Al-Istiraha church from the 5th century.

While the Ramallah Authority insists on “negotiating” with Israel on trivial issues, Israel continues its plans to Judaize Jerusalem and obliterating the Islamic nature of the Noble Sanctuary. Hundreds of settler houses are being built in the Old City and around Al-Haram Ash-Sharif, synagogues are being established around it and more are planned inside its compound. Palestinians are being expelled from Silwan and Ras Al-Aoumd and their homes demolished to make place for new Jewish houses and “parks”. The aim is to create a purely Jewish city, and delete all political and religious claims Palestinians might have over Jerusalem. To do it, the Zionist state has to deal with the 2 mosques: Al-Aqsa and the Dome of the Rock. Both are facing terror attacks from fanatic Jews, threatened by collapse due to Israeli excavations beneath them and are being promoted as “Israeli”. Al-Aqsa, which is the third holiest mosque in Islam, is too important for Muslims to be left standing. Thus, being of no much use to the Zionists, it destruction to build a Jewish temple or at least its division between Muslims and Jews is being promoted along various Zionist levels. The Dome of the Rock on the other hand is intensively being promoted as “part of Israel”, in the process of “changing” into a synagogue. Religious Jews believe that the Stone inside the mosque is the “Foundation Stone”, and the Dome of the Rock had been illustrated in religious Jewish works as early as the 16th century. So, why not take over Al-Haram Ash-Sharif with all its surroundings and turn it into a purely Jewish site? In 2003, Public Security Minister Tzachi Hanegbi said that with or without an agreement with the Palestinians, the “Temple Mount” would soon be opened to Jews for visits and prayers, saying “that is the right, the moral and the logical thing.” And in the same year, the Yesha Rabbi Council issued a statement calling for the establishment of Israeli sovereignty on the ‘Temple Mount’ and opening it to Jewish prayer, saying “The Temple Mount belongs solely to the Jewish people and there is no room on it for cooperation with strangers.” Then, on 04.09.2003, in reversion of long-held halakhic rulings, the Yesha Rabbis Council issued a ruling which allows Jews to visit the Al-Aqsa compound because “the doubts have been removed” about the location of the original temples, and that the danger of violating the sanctity of the place no longer existed.

And while the Palestinians fight amongst themselves over a fake “authority”, while the Arab leaders are racing to please the US and Israel, and while the Arab and Muslim nations watch and do nothing, the Zionists are vigorously working on establishing their so-called “Third Temple” in the heart of Al-Aqsa, with the support of the Zionist government and fundamentalist Christians. In 1989, Rabbi Israel Ariel, head of the Temple Institute, said: “We believe that a temple will arise despite all the problems. It is the force that unites The Jewish people”. His institute has reconstructed 38 of the 103 ritual implements required for bringing sacrifices at the temple. These efforts are supported by the Zionist government through its Religious Affairs Ministry. Representatives of the Israeli Chief Rabbinate travelled throughout Europe looking for embryos of the red heifer, used in the temple for spiritual purification. At a press conference, it was announced that several embryos were found and they will be implanted into cows in Israel. And according to Jewish Scholars,” the temple will not be built until a majority of the Jewish people lives in the biblical land of Israel”. Addressing the Israeli National Defence College Graduation Ceremony on 28.07.2009, Netanyahu reminded the Israelis that “For the first time since the period of the Second Temple, the majority of Jews will live in their homeland.” There is actually no Jewish majority in Occupied Palestine, but the message was most probably that the time had come for a third temple.

I started writing this paper on Monday, 28.09.2008. Today, Sunday, o4.09.2009, clashes erupted between Palestinians and the IOF when the IOF closed off Al-Haram Ash-Sharif and prevented Palestinians from reaching it. Yet another Israeli escalation within one week, as Zionist attacks on Al-Aqsa grow and the calls for dividing it or even making it a solely Jewish site are made almost every day. And during this week, another crime against Palestine and its people was committed; another joint PNA-Zionist crime, namely the decision of the Ramallah-PNA to defer the vote on the Goldstone Report that highlighted Israel’s war crimes in Gaza. The same Ramallah-PNA that keeps silent, dead silent, over the Judaization of Jerusalem and the attacks on Al-Aqsa. The PNA has proved once again where its interests lie, namely with the Zionist state. Remains only to ask ourselves about the rest of those claiming to represent us:

Where is the PLO and its various factions who claim to fight for a free Palestine with Jerusalem as its capital?
Where is the PFLP, the DFLP, and all the rest?
Where are the representatives of the various initiatives and campaigns?
Where are the NGO’s?
Where are all of those whose statements we often read, who representatives we often see and hear on TV?
Where are they? When will they wake up from their coma?

We are neither blind nor deaf, we know where they are; they issue a statement every now and then, to return to their coma and await their cheques from the PNA. They issue a shy condemnation here and there, appear on TV and claim to represent the interest of Palestine, and then limit Palestinian resistance to a Friday “peaceful” demonstration here and there, and the rest of the week they return to their offices and their work and their “office-activism”, while Israel confiscates more land, builds more settlements and Judaizes Jerusalem. We used to criticize Arab and Islamic nations for only issuing condemnations, and our political parties, our initiatives, our movements have become content with condemnations.

The Palestinian people; the children of the martyrs, the children of the prisoners, the children of the refugees, the children of those who lost their lands for illegal settlements, the children of Haifa, Yaffa, Acca, Nazareth, Nablus, Jenin, Gaza, Bethlehem, Hebron, Ramallah and Jerusalem will have the final word: Palestine will be free, and Jerusalem will be free. Those working hand in hand with the Zionist state and defending its interests and those shyly condemning the crimes of the Ramallah-PNA should realize that the Palestinian people will never forget, nor forgive.
